07:00 – 09:30 hrs
Heard that a few of our members came as early as 07:00hrs! I arrived at around 09:20hrs and found that quite a lot of members are already there. Saw 2 members car, park at the roadside; the most prominent one being rapidfire’s Silver Avanza A/T. Lots of people crowding around the car, including ZhenMing. Found out later that there were watching the window etching process (number plate). There wasn’t a lot of parking space around, so our members had to resort to parking all over the place! Some even parked their cars in another area near the seafood restaurant. One of the first things that we did that day (actually started even before 9:30am) was the etching of car number plate on car windows. For more details of this item, contact Auto Etch Specialist: Wong 012-3371689. The result is quite good. It does not have the light-grey look of a normal sandblasting job. It also gives a very smooth texture to the touch! All in all, it’s really quick and nice for RM40-50 for 4 windows. Additionally, there are customisable templates with Toyota and Avanza logos.
09:31 – 10:00hrs
The majority of our people started arriving around this time. The highlights include the arrival of hi_risk and his family, all the way from Kuantan! Also on the scene is our TOCM forum “Boss”, flee with his digital camera; ready to capture everything he can lay his “lens” on!
flee shared with the members some of his experiences with Toyota, highlighting items like the security issue with the Unser and Prado models.
A few members kacau ZhenMing’s car; enquired about his tinting, double-seal front doors, etc.
hi_risk’s car was not spared too, since his car had a look-down rear mirror installed, complete with roof-rack! One can only imagine what is in the car!
10:01 – 10:20hrs
By the time we are done with the window-etching project, it was already 10am. The sun is shining brightly and our venue has become overly crowded and hot. The parking lot was completely exposed, without any trees to provide a shaded area.
At this point, we had to decide on an alternate location before we start on the D.I.Y. Grounding Project/Demo.
We had a quick discussion and decided to go to the Istana Budaya car park. Everbody got into their cars and formed a rather crude line of vehicles. Off we go on our very first convoy!
Problem with convoys is keeping the vehicles together throughout. We were very brave people and without much planning, we head out. One following the other – full trust, that the car in front will lead them to their destination! (yeah, some even followed a Honda City!)
Needless to say, the convoy got chopped a couple of times when we found that the Istana Budaya’s car park was not suitable, and we had to go rounding around Jalan Tun Razak, before settling ourselves at the National Library car park. Phew! Just writing about it reminded me how bad it was! We need to organize this more effectively guys!
10:21 – 12:00hrs
We still failed to find a location where we can have the whole place to ourselves. We have to park our cars at different sections of the car park, since there were quite a number of cars there already.
On the plus side, we managed to park our “project” car under a shaded area. Our “project” car for the grounding project belongs to hi_risk, who can’t wait to get his hands dirty! Even though he is not mechanically inclined, he was eager to D.I.Y. all the way!
Somebody managed to print the diagram of the cable layout; with ZhenMing’s guidance, hi_risk was able to do most of the points except those that require a special nut and bolt. While hi_risk continues to work on his Avanza, the rest of the people started to discuss about their cars, the accessories and share their experiences with everything related to their car. Other family members managed to find time to read the papers, catch a nap; generally, just hanging about! Some of our members brought kuih-muih, cincau and soya drinks. Our members are quite shy and some of the drinks and food were not finished; but most will agree that the kuih-muih was absolutely divine! Right? All in all, apart from a few hitch and glitches, I can safely say that the TT was a great success! This is due to the natural behaviour of our members who show their friendliness and super social skills throughout the whole event! Not to mention the amount of patience and commitment to ensure each and every one of us is not left alone. Even though most of us left after 12:00pm, the TT officially ended at around 14:00hrs – according to ZhenMing (the last person to leave the area). It’s great meeting each and every one of you!
Special Thanks ……. - ZhenMing for organising the Avanza forum and TT.
- Anakvanz for the lovely kuih muih.
- Our drinks sponsors kenlaw, rapidfire and some others! (not sure who you are, but thanks a million!)
- All the outstation members who drove all the way to the TT.
- The family members for allowing their menfolk to indulge in their "other wife".
- Everyone else who is not specifically mentioned - all of you are responsible for the success of the TT.

Understand that the situation might be kelam-kabut... as so many turned up during the 1st TT. With the curiousity and dynamic of the attendees, it needs a well-planned logistic and crowd control system to get all attention. This is the hardest part. Anyhow, I assusmed you guys/gals get what you want at the least: the very 1st face to face Avanzarian gathering..... I can see that in the photos. Justtalk actually on that sunday,tt is too crowed at morning. too many peaple joging there. we cannot find a single parking lot for us. next gethering will choose other place and time.
quite good respond for this tt. at least 30 over people attend this tt which include freinds and family and olso some public. if need a good organise tt on a park with no organizing commitees and sponsor is quite difficult.
for me is quite good aredy,we just need to meet each other and chat there and play some joke. no need too former.
this is a fun gethering not a former gethering. kenlaw
I must say the tt is really a good gathering to know people and things that all of us love to. But the parking space is not that ideal since we can not take a group photo with all our Avanza line up in the backgroud. sigh..................... May be next tt ............... Special thanks to ZhenMing for explainatioin on grounding cable, and to Mr.Ong (not sure of his nickname though) for supplying the drink and kuih-muih. THANKS !!!! nufcToon
due to the waiting for another 3 avanza owners, we arrive late (10.30am) at taman tasik titiwangsa but unfortunately cant find any one there. touring round and round around tasik, only can find one blue avanza in front of the stadium titiwangsa.
quite disappointed. otherwise can show u one of the nice avanza that full of Thai accessories, while another one with RM10k ICE installed. (both from Kedah) limpe hi_risk toks about his cables...
