Here are some pictures of the Honda Malaysia Racing Team car for the Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race (MME) 2004. The base vehicle is a Civic 2.0 i-VTEC but the K20 engine is tuned by M-TEC using Idemitsu lubricants. This is the race debut of the locally prepared Civic as last year, Honda was represented by the Kunitmitsu privateer team running the Integra. It is also the racing debut of the Honda works team.
Team principal, Seiji Kuraishi has moulded local and driving talent into the HM Racing Team. The first car will be driven by Kunimitsu Takahashi, Hidetoshi Mitsusada and local boy and three time MME winner, Tommy Lee. The remaining car will feature Eddie Lew, Farriz Fauzy (younger brother of Britsh F3 championship driver and F1 hopeful, Fairuz) and Hiroki Katoh (Team Kunimitsu's Japan GT driver). The pit crew will be from Malaysia.
If you look closely, there is a Mugen Racing box of tricks under the centre console.
Sorry, nothing to report from UMW Toyota - I guess they don't have any sporty models to go racing with!
